Founded in 1989 by Dr. Jose Miguel Zarhi Troy, a renowned plastic surgeon and passionate wine connoisseur, Calyptra Winery began as a small vineyard in Chile's Alto Cachapoal Valley. Situated 1,000 meters above sea level, the estate’s first Chardonnay vines marked the beginning of a high-end winemaking journey that has made Calyptra one of Chile’s top boutique wineries. In 2018, the project expanded to Argentina's prestigious Uco Valley, thanks to a partnership with Fernando Rodriguez Merino, a Mendoza-based entrepreneur with extensive experience in wine, hospitality, and gastronomy. Today, Calyptra continues to produce some of the region’s most exquisite wines, blending Chilean and Argentine winemaking expertise.
Calyptra’s wines are crafted with precision and a dedication to quality, rooted in the principles of sustainable wine tourism and a mission to create unforgettable experiences. The vineyards in both Chile and Argentina benefit from high altitudes and unique terroirs, where the Andes’ glacial waters nourish vines planted in mineral-rich soils. The Uco Valley, known for its wide thermal range, enhances the aromatic concentration, color, and acidity in each grape, yielding wines that are both vibrant and complex. With head winemaker Bernardo Bossi Bonilla and vineyard foreman Cristian Berríos at the helm, Calyptra combines expertise, passion, and attention to detail in every bottle.
